Prelude

He was on his way to class. Thinking of the many paths to walk down, he finally decided: to take Chemical Engineering and never look back. Little did he know what fate had planned for him.

Days, weeks, months. Time flew by and he never gave in to his doubts, much less his worries about the near future. In the back of his mind though, was a voice hardly louder than a whisper, urging him to reconsider while the opportunity still presented itself.

It finally struck him. Without a moment's hesitation, sprinting to the reception desk of the staffroom, he requested a short meeting with the older man, his mentor and confidant.
